Female students in the area will have the opportunity to develop their basketball skills as the Lady Chaps, Midland College’s Women’s Basketball team, are set to host two basketball clinics this month.

According to a news release from Midland College (MC), the clinics will take place on October 5 and October 26 at the college’s gymnasium. Student athletes and coaching staff will teach the fundamentals of basketball. The clinics are free for female students in grades 3 through 8.

"This clinic is about more than just basketball; it’s about creating a supportive community for young girls to grow and develop both on and off the court. We hope to inspire these athletes to pursue their passions and realize their potential," said head coach Ron Jones.

The news release states that the clinic will focus on basketball techniques such as shooting, passing, teamwork, and dribbling. The aim is to cultivate a love for the game by providing attendees with insights from individuals who have played at the college level. Registration is free, but spots are limited, and MC encourages interested participants to register early.

"This clinic is about more than just basketball; it’s about creating a supportive community for young girls to grow and develop both on and off the court," said assistant coach Cory Hill. "We hope to inspire these athletes to pursue their passions and realize their potential."
