Joseph Norman, oilfield influencer and optimization consultant, said he helps operators optimize artificial lift systems, addressing automation issues and improving production efficiency to reduce failures and ultimately increase profitability. Norman was a guest on a recent episode of the Best of Midland Podcast.
“I optimize artificial lift systems,” said Norman on a recent edition of the Best of Midland Podcast. “An artificial lift system is a system designed to lift water, oil, gas, and water from below the surface to the surface. You have different forms of artificial lift. One form is a rod pump, where you have a long rod connected to a pump with two valves on it, and it lifts and displaces fluid to the surface.”
“What I do is help operators optimize those systems; If they're having trouble with their automation, we can dial in the automation,” Norman said. “ If they're having trouble knowing how much fluid is available or what their production efficiency is, I can help them figure those things out. If we can reduce failures and increase production, of course, that increases the bottom line and makes more money. At the end of the day, I help operators save money, and I help them make money.”
Norman is an optimization consultant at FluidLevels, an oil and gas service company in the Permian Basin of West Texas. FluidLevels specializes in optimizing artificial lift systems to maximize production and prevent failures. He also runs the company’s YouTube channel, which highlights the oil and gas industry and the people involved in energy production.
