Lona Sharon Carter, known affectionately as MawMaw, passed away on September 14, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on May 8, 1950, in Danville, VA, to Hazel and Lloyd Jackson, Lona's life was filled with love, family, and service to others.

She is survived by her son Lee Calvert and his wife Tracey, daughter-in-law Toshia Calvert, grandchildren Haylee and Cory Wilkerson, Chase and Brianna Calvert, Caleb Calvert, Rachael Calvert, Robert Calvert, David Blackmon, and Savannah Edwards, as well as great-grandchildren Hayden and Cooper Wilkerson, Charley and Cohen Calvert, Addison Calvert, and Sara Adams. Lona is also survived by her cousin Sharion Jones, brothers Nolan and Randy Jackson, and sister Darlene Humphries.

Lona's legacy of kindness, generosity, and love for her family will forever be cherished. Her dedication to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passion for cooking, and active presence on social media were just a few aspects of her vibrant personality.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 6-8 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, with a funeral service following on Friday, September 2024, at 3:00 PM at the same location. The family invites guests to a reception in Lona's honor at 405 W. 83rd St. after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Odessa or the American Cancer Society in Lona's memory, as a fitting tribute to her caring nature.
