Darnell Small, born Opal Darnell Small on September 16, 1937, to Pat and Ruby Soules, passed away on June 21, 2024. In her younger years, Darnell worked at a local drug store before meeting her husband, Carl Small, whom she married on September 2, 1955.

Supporting Carl's entrepreneurial ventures, Darnell played a pivotal role in the success of their oil field service company, Small Fishing and Rental Inc. Her dedication extended beyond the business realm as she raised three children, managed household duties, and remained a steadfast partner to Carl.

Following Carl's passing in 1993, Darnell's faith deepened, guiding her through a new chapter of life full of travel, newfound friendships, and a rich bond with her family. Revered for her wisdom and grace, Darnell continued to inspire those around her, embracing her role as a mentor and spiritual guide.

Darnell is survived by her children Karla Wester Ellis (Daniel), Brad Small (Allison), Chad Squirrel Small (Nichole), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and extended family. Her legacy as a loving wife, nurturing mother, and devoted friend will endure in the hearts of those who knew her.

A funeral service to honor Darnell's life will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring, Texas, with interment at Trinity Memorial Park to follow. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring.
