Christine Foreman is running unopposed for the Midland College Board of Trustees, Place 5 after Stephen Castle dropped out of the race.

“I truly have a ton of respect for him for dropping out when he did and the way he did, with class. He also saved Midland taxpayers $80,000, and that’s huge,” she said.

A Midland College Board of Trustees race costs taxpayers because of the expenses tied to organizing the election. Costs include printing ballots, staffing polling places, and managing other administrative tasks, which would have been necessary had there been multiple candidates.

Before transitioning into education and leadership roles, Foreman worked as a registered nurse for 10 years. She later became the Public and Community Liaison for Region 18, where she worked for 2.5 years. During her time there, she helped implement the iLead program, a leadership initiative in local public schools. The program began in 2023, involving over 15,000 students and 1,000 teachers.

Foreman now works full-time for the John Maxwell Foundation as the Student Transformation State Director, overseeing the expansion of iLead across Texas and beyond. As of fall 2024, the program includes 71,000 students and over 3,000 teachers. iLead focuses on building emotional intelligence in students and has shown signs of improving teacher retention.

John Maxwell, a well-known leadership expert, created iLead to foster leadership skills in young people. His teachings focus on personal growth and leadership development, and iLead adapts these principles for students and educators, according to https://www.maxwellleadership.org/ilead/
