Midland City Council authorized the acceptance of anticipated Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants totaling $6.7 million for apron and runway blast pad projects at the Midland International Air & Space Port. The council voted on the projects during its Aug. 13 meeting.

According to the Midland City Council's Aug. 13 agenda packet, the first grant for $3.75 million would be for the MAF Reconstruct Asphalt Air Carrier Apron.

A second FAA grant would provide $2.98 million in funds for the Midland International Air & Space Port's MAF Runway Blast Pads Improvement Project, according to the same agenda packet.

Councilman Eric Davidson made the motion authorizing execution of both grants, and they were seconded by Councilwoman Robin Poole. With the vote by the council, the Mayor and the City Attorney will be able to execute these grant agreements upon receipt, according to the agenda packet.
