The Midland RockHounds, a Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Oakland Athletics, head into their final batch of homestands at Momentum Bank Ballpark. Before they return to the home diamond on August 20 as hosts to the Wichita Wind Surge, the RockHounds reflect on an unsuccessful start to their ongoing away series against the Tulsa Drillers.

A press release issued by the Tulsa ballclub stated that the RockHounds yielded two losses to the Drillers, describing both contests as instances of déjà vu.

According to the release, in each of the first two matchups against Tulsa, Midland attempted comebacks but was unsuccessful.

On August 14, the RockHounds wiped out a Drillers’ 1-0 lead late in the game with a home run. However, Tulsa loaded the bases in the ninth and won the game on a walk-off, 2-1.

In the series opener on August 13, Midland eliminated a 2-0 deficit to tie the game at two, but their hosts covered all three bases before walking off to a 3-2 victory.

According to the release, Midland occupies first place in the South Division of the Texas League for the second half of the campaign, with a record of 24-17 as of August 14.

An August 16 Facebook post by Midland stated that their team’s 12 shutouts by its pitching staff lead the Texas League.
