The Midland Police Department (MPD) continues to search for a suspect in an alleged assault that occurred on the afternoon of July 21. The incident took place at 5:46 p.m. in the Macarena’s parking lot at 4411 W. Illinois Ave.

According to a July 22 Facebook post by the Permian Basin law enforcement agency, police initially received a call regarding a disturbance with weapons.

According to MPD, when officers arrived at the scene, two men were contacted and determined to be involved in a physical altercation.

Citing a police report, the post said that the victim explained he was in the passenger seat of a vehicle when the suspect opened the door and began to assault him.

The victim told authorities that he attempted to defend himself, having struck the suspect with a nearby knife, according to the post.

Both males received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

No arrests were made at the time MPD shared the post, and the assault is still under investigation.
