The Midland Fire Department (MFD) fought a weekend truck blaze along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 (I-20). The incident, which occurred on the evening of June 29, involved an 18-wheeler.
According to a Facebook post by the fire department, the truck was discovered turned on its side in the 5800 block of East I-20 in the vicinity of East Loop 250.
As a result of the accident, the specified section of East I-20 was shut down to traffic.
The post said that a Hazmat crew was summoned to the scene, but what caused the incident and whether there were any injuries were unavailable.
Permian Basin stations KMID News and KPEJ News reported that the day prior, MFD responded to a tractor-trailer filled with onions that caught fire along East I-20.
That accident also prompted the closure of the interstate, which crews estimated to last close to an hour, according to the station.
