The Midland International Air & Space Port (MAF) continues to see an influx of airline passenger traffic. Airport officials report that passengers embarking at MAF increased nearly 14% last month.

A June 20 press release issued by the city of Midland said that over 67,000 people boarded an airline at the Permian Basin airport, the figure being more than the one posted at the same time last year.

According to the release, the 67,684 passengers bring the total number in 2024 to 475,334, itself about 12% compared to last fiscal year (FY).

The boost came just as MAF prepared for what is anticipated as one of the busiest summer travel seasons since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020.

As stated on its website, MAF ranks eighth among primary commercial service airports in Texas.

The airport is owned and operated by the city of Midland and offers more than 20 daily departures to several major airports including Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Dallas Love Field (DAL), Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), Houston William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), and Denver International Airport (DEN).
