Midland will pay $863,560 for 1,030 refuse containers for its Solid Waste Department. The Midland City Council approved the purchase from Roll-Offs USA at its June 11 meeting.
According to the Midland City Council's June 11 meeting agenda packet, the purchase will include 500 3-cubic-yard residential refuse containers, 500 3.5-cubic-yard commercial refuse containers, and 30 30-yard construction refuse containers. Funds from the Sanitation Fund Operating Budget will be used for the purchase.
The refuse containers will be used as replacement containers for old, rusted, and dilapidated containers, and additional containers to service new accounts. According to the agenda packet, Midland has ordered from Roll-Offs USA for years and its containers meet standards and are proven to last. Director of Solid Waste Jeffery Ahrlett told Purchasing Manager Erika Martinez in a memo requesting the purchase.
The city will use the Buyboard purchasing program, which is permitted under the Local Government Code and satisfies state law requiring competitive bids for purchases. Councilmember John Norman seconded the motion to purchase made by Councilmember Jack Ladd.
