The Bush Tennis Center is gearing up to host its highly anticipated Pat Green Best of the West: All American Tribune to Texas Veterans event this Saturday, May 4.

Tim Stallard, executive director of Bush Tennis Center, expressed enthusiasm for the event, which is now in its seventh year. Stallard, who conceptualized the event, highlighted its dual purpose of supporting the center’s Bush-Wikse ACE Outreach Program along with various nonprofits in the Permian Basin.

The Bush-Wikse ACE Outreach program, initiated in 2016, aims to provide guidance, mentorship, and inspiration to local youth through the sport of tennis, connecting kids with positive role models in the community.

Stallard outlined the diverse lineup of activities planned for the event. It starts with a first responders’ golf tournament, followed by a BBQ Cook-off fundraiser that supports the center’s weekly program for Bynum. The highlight of the evening will be a concert featuring the Pat Green Band, with special guest Tracie Mattox, which is expected to draw in around 2,000 patrons for the 8 p.m. show.

In addition to entertainment, the event will also host a farmers market and veterans resource fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., showcasing local vendors and nonprofit organizations. Vendors participating in the fair will receive complimentary tickets to the Pat Green concert.

Attendees can also enjoy free face painting sessions by Maribel from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., while fitness enthusiasts can participate in the Hotdog Run 5K, USTA tennis, and pickleball social.

The occasion will also mark the grand opening of Bush Tennis Center’s new pro shop and Murray’s at Center Court Grille, adding to the festivities.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Permian Warrior Partnership (PWP), a community-led initiative that supports veterans by providing them access to quality resources and opportunities. According to its website, PWP aims to proactively engage with veterans and foster meaningful partnerships within the community to enhance veteran support services.

The Pat Green Best of the West event promises a day filled with entertainment, sports, community engagement, and support for worthy causes, bringing together individuals from all walks of life to celebrate Texas veterans and the spirit of giving back.
