The Midland Development Corporation (MDC) approved a lease agreement for Castelion Corporation to build a rocket production and testing site in Midland. The board voted to approve the agreement during a meeting on April 25.

Currently operating from a temporary site in Mojave, California, Castelion Corporation engages in rocket motor production, ground testing, and flight testing.

The proposed site in Midland, a 125-acre tract of land situated in Section 33, Block 40, will serve as the primary location for rocket testing.

During the meeting, Castelion Corporation representatives told MDC board members that fire safety and health are top priorities for their operations, and that hazard reports from the original site designs were provided to both the MDC and the local fire marshal.

Castelion Corporation also outlined future plans, including the development of a 300-plus acre facility for missile production, ground testing, and flight testing.

The next regular meeting of the Midland Development Corporation board is scheduled for May 6 at 10 a.m.
