MPD helps apprehend two capital murder suspects

Two suspects wanted for capital murder are in custody in Central Texas after Midland Police Department officers helped in their apprehension in Midland this week.

According to the report, Midland Police received information that the two suspects involved in a homicide in Lee County were believed to be in Midland. The suspects were identified as Jayden Dangelo Medearis, 18, and Tavion Malique Williams, 19, both with addresses in Midland.

On Monday, April 22, 2024, MPD officials successfully apprehended Medearis and transported him back to Lee County. The search for Williams continued until Thursday, April 25, when MPD received a notification from the US Marshals Service that Williams was at Dollar General and wanted to surrender to the police.

"MPD was notified via the (US Marshals Service) that Williams had contacted them and he was at Dollar General, located at 2300 Fairgrounds Road, and that he was wanting to surrender to police," stated the report.

Williams was located, taken into custody, and transported to Lee County the following day.
