Midland Animal Services (MAS) has announced that its office is now operational again after a three-day closure for deep cleaning. The temporary shutdown, which took place on April 22, 23, and 24, was necessitated by a recent distemper issue at the facility.

In an April 26 press release issued by MAS Manager Melissa Griffin-Hobson, it was revealed that the office received 53 animals, including 28 canines, on its first day of reopening.

Griffin-Hobson expressed concern over the intake of such a large number of animals in a single day. She noted that this situation highlights the problem of pet overpopulation and underscores the importance of responsible pet ownership.

MAS encourages pet owners to ensure their pets are spayed or neutered, properly identified, and vaccinated as necessary.

The organization also urged public support through various means. These include adopting or fostering animals, volunteering at the facility, or simply spreading awareness about their work.

The shelter operates from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. However, it remains closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
