The Leadership Midland’s Class of 2024 recently presented a check for $44,000 to the city. The funds are earmarked for improvements at local parks, specifically for the construction of a shade structure at Reyes-Mashburn-Nelms Park. The donation was accepted by the Midland City Council during its regular meeting on April 23.

According to a Facebook post by the Midland Chamber of Commerce, which oversees Leadership Midland, the proposed structure will not only offer much-needed relief during summer but also create an inviting space for public enjoyment. The chamber expressed pride in the current Leadership Midland class for their dedication to positively impacting the community.

Leadership Midland is a program that used to be held every two years until the chamber decided to revert to its original annual schedule.

Since its inception in 1979, Leadership Midland has graduated over 1,300 individuals. The impact of their efforts can be seen throughout Midland, as stated on the chamber's website.

According to information on their website, Leadership Midland holds meetings one day per month. These classes take place on the second Thursday of each month from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., running from September through May. Participants gain knowledge about various agencies and conduct site visits around the city.

The chamber announced that it is currently accepting applications for the Leadership Midland Class of 2025 until May 3 at 5 p.m.

The tuition fee stands at $1,500 and covers transportation costs, lunches, necessary supplies, program operating fees as well as expenses related to the annual Orientation Retreat and Graduation Ceremony.
