Midland Police assist in recovering almost $280,000 worth of stolen property | Midland Police Department

Midland Police recently helped recover nearly $280,000 in stolen property that included multiple vehicles, ATVs, generators and a drone.

The recovery of property followed MPD receiving information from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office and executing a search warrant in the 3200 block of Franklin Avenue.

It was there that an MPD detective from the Auto Theft Unit recognized several additional items on the property he knew to have been reported as stolen. Based on this information, the detective obtained a search warrant for the property and a suspect was also detained.

“Members of the Midland Police Department Auto Theft Unit, Property Crimes Division and Patrol executed the search warrant,” MPD officials stated. “During the search, the officers recovered stolen property that included two ATVs, a utility trailer, an industrial wash trailer, a Dodge Ram 3500, a generator and an air compressor. At the end of the search warrant, the suspect Ricardo Mijares was arrested for theft of property and transported to Midland County Jail, where he was booked.”

MPD also reported that detectives were also able to positively identify a suspect vehicle -- a white Ford F-250 utilized in the theft and that a vehicle MPD officials later determined to be stolen.

“During an inventory of suspect vehicle, several other stolen items were recovered,” MPD reported. “These items included a drone, a generator, a propane heater, concrete scrubber and high-pressure hoses and nozzles.”

During this incident, the Midland Police Department recovered approximately $279,499 worth of stolen property.

Detectives are working to get the three remaining suspects identified, MPD stated.
