MUGS 2024 Spring Classic to benefit family of Kevin Kelley
Midland United Girls Softball (MUGS) announced its 2024 Spring Classic, scheduled for April 20-21, will raise money for the family of Kevin Kelley, who was killed in a motorcycle crash on April 13.
According to Rick Maddox, president of MUGS and Deputy Junior Olympic Commissioner for USA Softball of Texas, Kelley was an active member in the MUGS community. “The Kelley's ties with MUGS run deep; his daughter has been an active participant in the program for many years, and their family has been integral to both MUGS and local travel teams,” he told Midland Times. “In a show of solidarity, the proceeds from this tournament will directly contribute to supporting the Kelley family during their time of need.”
Maddox said that donations can also be made at 432-556-1935 for those unable to participate in the tournament.
"Softball families are a tight group, and anything we can do to support them, we will," said Maddox.
According to its website, MUGS is a sports complex in Midland that provides a “clean, safe” place for girls of all ages to play fastpitch softball. For more information, https://midlandfastpitch.com/.
