The Midland City Council has given the green light to an $855,690 contract with Jordan Concrete of Midland. The agreement involves the provision of concrete and caliche for the city's transportation division.

According to a memo from Transportation Manager Abe Langston, included in the Midland City Council agenda package for its April 9 meeting, "Readymix concrete and concrete-related products are commonly used by The City of Midland’s Transportation Division for a variety of right-of-way maintenance activities. The Transportation Division’s concrete crew will use ready-mix concrete and concrete-related products primarily for paving Garfield Street from Golf Course Road to Country Club Drive."

Langston further explained that ready-mix concrete and related products are necessary for storm drain maintenance and repair as well as drainage maintenance. He added that curb and gutter maintenance and repair, ADA ramp installation, and concrete paving also require these materials.

According to information provided in the same council agenda package, two bids were received by the city out of 27 bid requests issued.

Hunter Logistics also submitted a bid. Their proposal amounted to $885,730 as detailed in the Midland City Council agenda package for its April 9 meeting.
