Candidates running for the vacant at-large seat will participate in a forum | City of Midland

A city council candidate forum and luncheon is scheduled for April 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1: p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Activity Room, located at 2300 Butternut Lane in Midland. Hosted by the Midland Liberty Leadership, the event aims to provide a platform for residents to hear directly from city council candidates and understand their visions and priorities for Midland's future.

The forum will be moderated by former Midland Mayor Ernest Angelo, who currently serves as a board member of the Texas Public Policy Foundation. The event will focus on pivotal topics shaping the future of Midland, such as:

Vision for a better Midland: Candidates will share their aspirational visions for the city's future and outline their strategies for achieving these goals.

Public-private partnerships: Candidates will discuss their views on the role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in promoting growth, development, and community well-being, as well as their plans to leverage these partnerships effectively.

Community threats and challenges: Candidates will identify the most pressing issues facing the community and offer solutions to ensure Midland's continued prosperity.

Driving force behind candidacy: Attendees will learn about the motivations of each candidate, including their values, experiences, and aspirations, and how they plan to translate these into tangible actions.

Vision and purpose: Candidates will present their top priorities if elected and share their perspectives on the core responsibilities of a city council member.

RSVP is required for attendance, and a complimentary lunch will be provided. The event is open to all ages and free of charge. Interested individuals can RSVP online at https://www.texaspolicy.com/events/midland-llc-city-council-candidate-forum-luncheon.
