Midland Legacy girls' track places second, boys place third at Lubbock Invitational

The Midland Legacy girls’ track and field team took second place at the Lubbock Invitational on March 28 and 29, and the boys’ team placed third in the meet. Cade Decker also had a huge day for the boys' team, setting a meet record in the discus.

Girls’ team top finishers:

100 meters: Esther Adetimehin was third with a time of 12.56. Cayzli Wilson was sixth with a time of 12.80.

200 meters: Iyana Smith took gold with a time of 24.97, and Jaelynn Norman won the silver with a time of 25.46. Tarayah Hubert was fourth with a time of 25.71.

400 meters: Skye Lopez won silver with a time of 1:00.43.

800 meters: Isabella Reyna was 11th with a time of 2:35.21.

1600 meters: Mia Regalado was 10th with a time of 5:48.66. Gabrielle Garcia was 12th with a time of 5:54.36.

3200 meters: Regalado placed eighth with a time of 12:42.58 and Garcia was 12th, clocking in at 13:03.50

100 meter hurdles: Dasmien Johnson was fifth with a time of 16.19.

4x100 meters: Midland Legacy won gold with a time of 48.51.

4x200 meters: The Rebels also took gold with a time of 1:44.45.

4x400 meters: Midland Legacy was fifth with a time of 4:13.51.

High jump: Samantha Manzanares was fifth with a leap of four feet, 10 inches. Demaya Douglas was sixth at four feet, 10 inches. Kate Stansell placed 15th with a height of four feet, six inches.

Long jump: Norman was second with a leap of 17 feet, 2.5 inches.

Pole vault: Victoria Salazar won the bronze with a height of 10 feet. Elizabeth Garcia was seventh at nine feet and Corinne Berry was 11th at eight feet.

Discus: Madison Gonzales won bronze with a toss of 129 feet. Sydnee Patman was fourth with a throw of 123 feet, three inches.

Shot put: Madison Gonzales was fourth with a throw of 37 feet, 10.5 inches and Patman was sixth with a toss of 34 feet, two inches.

Boys’ team top finishers:

100 meters: Harlem Brown placed sixth with a time of 10.90.

200 meters: Ayden Granado was sixth in the preliminaries with a time of 22.47.

400 meters: Logan Meade won gold with a time of 49.63. Christian Imperial had a time of 53.29 for fifth place.

800 meters: John Abalos was third with a time of 2:05.32. Hadrian Urquidi was fifth with a time of 2:06.68 and Andyn Huffman was sixth with a time of 2:06.77.

1600 meters: Jaime Flores was seventh with a time of 4:52.47.

3200 meters: Abalos was fifth with a time of 10:30.05. Aidan Montes was sixth with a time of 10:48.79 and Walter Guerrero was ninth with a time of 10:55.94.

110 meter hurdles: Jayden Holmes Lopez won bronze with a time of 15.21. Masseye Diop placed fifth with a time of 15.49.

300 meter hurdles: Lopez was second in the preliminary heat with a time of 41.46.

4x100 meters: The Rebels took third with a time of 42.50.

High Jump: Weldon Cooks was seventh with a height of five feet, 10 inches.

Long Jump: Alexis Chavez was third with a distance of 21 feet, 2.75 inches.

Pole Vault: Caleb Hardy won gold with a height of 13 feet, six inches. Dominik Barraza was third with a height of 13 feet.

Discus: Caden Decker won gold with a toss of 186 feet, six inches, which was a meet record.

Shot Put: Decker won the gold in this throwing event as well, with a toss of 52 feet, six inches.
