Midland spends almost $1.7 million on cars and light trucks

The purchasing manager of Midland, Erika Martinez, has been granted permission by the city council to allocate nearly $1.7 million towards the acquisition of cars and light trucks from five different dealerships.

According to a recording of the Midland City Council's meeting on March 19, Martinez's request for the purchases was approved, with funds to be drawn from the Garage Fund operating budget.

According to the agenda of the Midland City Council's March 19 meeting, bid specifications were formulated and advertisements for bids were published for 41 vehicles. The new vehicles will replace older vehicles that have exceeded their useful lifespan. 

The vehicles to be purchased include administrative cars, full-size regular cab pickups, extended cab pickups, crew cabs with diesel engines, cab & chassis models, SUVs and minivans.

The winning bidders are located in Odessa, Grapevine, Stephenville, Bastrop and Northport according to the council agenda. The dealerships awarded include Sewell Family of Companies, Grapevine DCJ, Triple Crown Ford, Sames Motor Co., and American Vet Works Inc.
