In a recent incident on March 21, 2024, the Odessa Police Department (OPD) responded to a disturbance in the 800 block of Roxanna. The investigation revealed a troubling situation where 40-year-old Louis Hector Tavarez not only assaulted his mother but also stole her silver Dodge Journey.

According to reports, an OPD officer later located Tavarez in the stolen vehicle at 16th and Coronado. However, Tavarez wasted no time in fleeing the scene in the stolen vehicle. The pursuit led to a dramatic turn of events as OPD deployed stop sticks on the vehicle at 2nd and Belmont, eventually forcing it to a stop in front of the Odessa Police Department.

Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, Tavarez was arrested for Robbery classified as a "Felony 2" and Evading in a Motor Vehicle categorized as a "Felony 3". Fortunately, the stolen vehicle was successfully returned to the rightful owner, Tavarez's mother.

It is worth noting that the photo provided in the report dates back to October of 2023, shedding light on the individual involved in the recent criminal activities. The OPD's swift response and successful apprehension of Tavarez highlight the importance of law enforcement in ensuring public safety and upholding justice in the community.
