In a recent incident on March 18, 2024, a burglary took place at Manuel’s Tamale Factory situated at 1915 E. 2nd St. The suspect involved in the burglary has been identified as 30-year-old Bret Asencio. Surveillance footage played a crucial role in positively identifying Asencio as the perpetrator.
According to the authorities, Asencio has a troubling history of criminal activities. The investigation uncovered that Asencio has a record of being arrested for burglary of a building a staggering seven times within the last five years. Additionally, it was revealed that Asencio had a prior conviction for evading the authorities.
The situation escalated on March 19, 2024, around 6 pm when an officer from the OPD spotted Asencio in the vicinity of 10th and Grant. Asencio attempted to flee when approached by the officers, heading northbound on Grant. Despite his efforts to escape, Asencio was apprehended in a nearby alley.
Subsequently, Asencio was taken into custody for Burglary of a Building, classified as a "State Jail Felony," and for Evading Arrest with Prior Convictions, also categorized as a "State Jail Felony." Following his arrest, Asencio was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center to face the consequences of his actions.
