Numerous local leaders and citizens gathered at the Odessa Sports Complex for a "Soft Groundbreaking" ceremony. The event, which took place on February 27, 2024, marked the official commencement of the construction of the complex that has been years in the making.

One of the key figures present at the ceremony was Larry Bell, along with some of his family members. Bell and his family generously donated 100 acres of land for the Sports Complex, located in the Faudree and Yukon area, with a value exceeding $5 million.

Odessa Mayor Javier Joven, alongside City Council Members Denise Swanner, Mark Matta, and Gilbert Vasquez, graced the occasion with their presence. In addition, Sports Foundation President Collin Sewell addressed the attendees, with various members of the Sports Foundation Board also in attendance.

The groundbreaking ceremony comes shortly after the announcement that Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Boats are set to establish a presence in the City of Odessa, further enhancing the recreational and commercial opportunities in the area.

As a testament to the significance of the event, a special video capturing the highlights of the ceremony will be released soon, offering a glimpse into the promising future of the Odessa Sports Complex.
