Almanza wins 2 golds to lead Bulldogs to win at West Texas Relays

The Midland boys’ track team is on a roll, as they won their second straight meet with a victory at the 80th West Texas Relays over the weekend. Midland had a score of 125, beating out Odessa Permian’s 106 points and Midland Legacy’s score of 105.

Jose Almanza led the charge with a pair of golds in the meet. He won the 3,200 meters with a time of 9:58.29, and also won the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:40.54.

Stroman Bridges took the gold in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.11.

The 4x200-meter-relay team won the gold with a time of 1:32.62. This team consisted of Timothy Babino, Amon Mosley, Michael Waters and Elijah McCoy.

The 4x400-meter-relay team won silver with a time of 3:31.75. The team included Jacob Harper, Kaleb Harper, Cutter Lange and Amon Mosley.

Mosley also took silver in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.27.

Waters came away with silver in triple jump with a distance of 42 feet, 7.75 inches.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Ryder Sims won bronze with a time of 16.07.

Blaine Hamilton won bronze in the shot put with a toss of 46 feet, 1.25 inches.

Elijah McCoy took bronze in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.05.

Midland Lady Bulldogs (sixth place, 32 points)

The 4x400-meter-relay team won bronze with a time of 4:19.24. The team includes Natalie Tillis, Villafranco Serenity, Stephanie Olmos and Aliya Alexander.

Aubrey Gray won bronze in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.44.

Alani Alexander narrowly missed the podium in the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet, 7.5 inches.
