On Sunday, March 3, at approximately 3:49 p.m., the Midland Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 4400 block of Holiday Hill Road. The incident unfolded at Meridian Apartment Homes.

According to the Midland Fire Department Facebook, emergency responders saw smoke and flames vented from the affected building upon arrival. Wind gusts exceeding 30 mph exacerbated the fire. The fire was contained and no neighboring structures were affected. A total of eight units within the complex were burned.

Fire officials are working to determine the origin and circumstances that led to the fire. At this time, no injuries have been reported, as stated on the Facebook post. 

The American Red Cross is providing assistance to 40 displaced residents affected by the incident, as reported on the Facebook post. 

The Midland Fire Department employs over 200 personnel and provides fire protection and emergency medical services to citizens and visitors to the city and county of Midland, according to its website. It operates 11 stations, covering more than 900 square miles. Each year, Midland Fire Department responds to an increasing number of requests for assistance, with the majority of these calls pertaining to emergency medical services. In light of Midland's continuous growth, the fire department remains engaged in ongoing planning efforts to accommodate the expanding community.
