In its 41st year, Keep Midland Beautiful (KMB) invites the community to participate in the annual Great American Cleanup/Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off, a nationwide effort to keep public spaces litter-free. The event, co-sponsored by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Keep America Beautiful (KAB), Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), and Keep Midland Beautiful, encourages participants to register and engage in cleanup activities from March 1 through May 31.
"We have a lot of areas that need cleaning, so we need a lot of help," said Executive Director of KMB Joy Paulson in a release announcing the event.
The cleanup efforts will focus on various areas, including neighborhoods, city streets, parks, Adopt-A -pots, and vacant lots. Adopt-a-Highway groups will oversee highway cleanup activities as part of this community-wide endeavor.
This year's event is made possible through the generous sponsorship of H.E.B., the City of Midland, Atmos Energy, Inospec, ONEOK, Chevron, Midland Health, Plains, and Community National Bank.
Since its inception in 1983, Keep Midland Beautiful has championed grassroots environmental education and programming, inspiring the community to actively participate in preserving the city's natural beauty. The organization's mission revolves around educating and inspiring Midlanders to take action in creating a clean, beautiful, and waste-free Midland.
Individuals, families, social clubs, business groups, and neighborhoods can register for the cleanup event at www.keepmidlandbeautiful.org. All ages are available for participation in the event. Participants who register by March 15th will receive essential cleanup supplies, including trash bags, gloves, and a commemorative t-shirt.
