As the Midland Independent School District (MISD) gears up for the bond issue in March 2024, strides have been made in advancing the projects outlined in Bond 2023.

During the monthly meeting on Feb. 13, the Midland ISD Board of Trustees announced the selection of Dunaway and Associates as the surveying firm for the forthcoming Legacy High and Midland High campuses. According to a previous release from MISD, surveyors such as Centurion Planning & Design, Enprotec/Hibbs & Todd, KMCE, Dunaway Associates, Halff Associates, and Maverick Engineering were selected for further evaluation before the final approval of Dunaway Associates.

In the same session, the board approved JSA Architects as the architectural and engineering firm tasked with overseeing the planning, design, and construction administration for Goddard Junior High and Midland Freshman. These projects are bundled together due to shared floor plans and large student capacities.

A grade reconfiguration is scheduled for 2028, with Midland Freshman High School (MFHS) transforming into a middle school.

Vandergriff Group Architects has been selected to lead planning, design, and construction administration for an eight-elementary school package outlined in Bond 2023. These schools, identified as a priority in the MISD release, are integral to enhancing the safety measures within the district due to the absence of security vestibules.

Surveying and geotechnical service work have been completed at the site of the new elementary school situated in the Lone Star Trails area of Midland.

As MISD finalizes the request for proposal process for bond underwriters, the first bond sale is projected for March 2024. This financial step is crucial for funding the various projects outlined in Bond 2023 and ensuring the execution of the district's development plans.
