Midland College opened a new Starbucks location on their campus, located in the Marie Hall Academic Building, Room 217 (second floor). To celebrate the opening, students enrolled at Midland College are eligible for a 10 percent discount, while faculty and staff receive a 25 percent discount on all drinks.
“I’m really excited for the new Starbucks at the college,” said Caz Quain, a paramedic student at Midland College. “As a student enrolled in the paramedic program, I have quite a bit of assignments that require a lot of studying. It's nice to have a Starbucks at the college so I can order caffeinated drinks that help keep me focused.”

According to the Midland College website, Midland College emerged as part of the Permian Junior College District. In October 1972, the efforts of Midland supporters in Austin led to Midland College gaining independence as a separate community college district. Two events marked a turning point for Midland College: the passing of Senate Bill 19, enabling Midland citizens to vote for secession from the Permian Junior College system, and the approval of a $5.1 million bond issue in December 1972 to fund the creation of the Midland College campus. The inauguration of the new campus took place in January 1975.
Today, Midland College provides a range of educational opportunities, including two bachelor's degree programs and over 30 associate degree programs. Students can pursue certificates and transfer programs across various fields of study.
