Midland Christian (3-5, 1-2) took a 52-21 win over Fort Worth Christian (4-4, 0-2) on Friday night, highlighted by a 97-yard touchdown run by running back Brylee Perez.
It was a big day for Perez, who not only had the long touchdown run where he was able to find a hole and out-run the entire Cardinal team, but also caught a 32-yard touchdown pass by Colten Newsom. Newsom rolled out to his right and tossed a dart to the back corner of the end zone to Perez for the score.
Other highlights included a nine-yard touchdown run by Newsom where he followed blockers for a tough score. Boston Rodriguez picked off a pass in the game, while Corbin Lievens and Isaiah Mathew did a good job getting to the quarterback with a sack.
The Mustang special teams were also on point, with Brady Alsup stripping a kick returner of the ball and Colt Alexander recovering it in the end zone for a score.
The Mustangs play their final game of the regular season on Nov. 3 against Southwest Christian School at 7 p.m. at home.
