At Stake: Permian looks to make it back-to-back win in a home conference matchup with Frenship, who has lost two straight after starting the season 5-0.

What to watch:The Panthers got over the .500 mark with a clutch 32-31 win over rival Midland Legacy last week, where they won on a two-point conversion with seconds on the clock.

Permian will be riding a high off the win, and are facing a Frenship team who has struggled of late. Look for them to capitalize and go at the Tigers early and often.

Permian is coming off a game where they had 242 rushing yards as a team, led by senior captain Juzstyce Lara who ran for 153 yards on 23 attempts. He scored three times in the game, including the late fourth quarter score that put the team down by one.

Jakob Garcia managed the game well in the final quarter, eating clock and keeping the ball moving. He also won the game on a two-point conversion pass to a wide open Gage Murphy for a one-point win. It was a make or break play, and Garcia had a clutch throw for the victory. While his statistics were fairly pedestrian at 8-for-19 for 143 yards and a touchdown, the ice water in the veins on his final drive and game winning play is enough to be a player to look out for this week and the rest of the season.

Parker Haynes is a player to watch as well. He is coming off a game with a key fumble recovery he took to the house for a score.

The Tigers were cruising until they hit district play, and since then it has been all downhill with losses to Midland Legacy and Midland- two of the top teams in the district. Look for the Tigers to try to make a statement against Permian this week.

Quarterback Hudson Hutcheson was 24-for-39 for 315 yards with two touchdowns last week, but he also threw three costly interceptions. He was also the main ball carrier with 26 carries for 87 yards and a score. Look for him to work on his decision making with the passing game to minimize turnovers.

Landon Hutcheson caught 10 passes for 59 yards last week. Leyton Stone is also a difference maker, coming off a seven catch, 136 yard, one touchdown game. This is a dynamic duo of receivers who have proven to be a couple of the best in the district over the past two years,

On defense look out for Caydin Blakely, who had a team high 12 tackles in last week’s loss. They will need to tighten up this week against the run, as Midland had one player with more than 200 yards and two others who hit the century mark, allowing a total of 446 rushing yards.
