The Midland Police Department in Texas has announced a significant increase in the base salary for starting officers. The new salary will be $70,344 per year for new police recruits, a rise of over $10,000 from the previous salary of $59,008. This change will take effect from October 1, 2023.

The announcement was made by the Midland Police Department on October 3rd through a Facebook post. The post highlighted the salary increase and also mentioned several other benefits that the department offers to its officers. These benefits include a 2 to 1 match on a Texas retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, rent-free dorms, and provided equipment.

The new salary of $70,344 is for Police Recruits, followed by $73,731 for Probationary Officers and $77,270 for Police Officers. Salaries increase with years of service, reaching at least $103,137 by an officer's tenth year.
