Midland, Martin county oils make up nearly 30% of state’s oil production

Midland and Martin counties are ahead of the list in oil production, contributing the largest sum of oil in May, a Railroad Commission of Texas preliminary report reveals.

“The RRC reported seven Permian Basin counties in the top 10 statewide. Statewide, the RRC showed preliminary production of 917.272 billion cubic feet of natural gas produced in April,” a Midland Report-Telegraph report states.

The two counties collectively produced 29.7% of the 113.851 million barrels counted in the data, according to the RRC’s preliminary reported sum this past May.

Midland took the lead with 18 million barrels, contributing 15.88% of the oil produced statewide. Nine counties within the Permian Basin were among the ten highest-producing states across the state, contributing 62.6% of oil production.

The Railroad Commission’s report noted 109.09 million barrels in May 2022.  The updated sum was 129.073 million barrels.

Reeves County took the lead with 80.989 billion cubic feet of natural gas in May.  Webb County followed with 80.059 billion, and Midland County in  third place with 67.068 billion. 

Last May, preliminary gas production was predicted to be 847.979 billion cubic feet. The most recent, updated sum is 993.667 billion cubic feet, the MRT report states.
