The Midland High School Football Booster Club is accepting donations for the family of Jaxson Kidd, a player who was hospitalized after a collision during a scrimmage earlier this month. According to an Aug. 17 Facebook post, Kidd is currently recovering from a fractured C5 vertebrae.

“He is the true definition of tough, edge, and guts,” the booster club said, according to the Facebook post. “To help him continue on his road to a complete and miraculous recovery, the Bulldog Family is collecting monetary [donations]. We love you Jaxson and continue to pray for you and your family!”

Visitors can make donations to Kidd via Venmo at JKIDDrecovery. The booster club said that users can just click "Skip and pay" when asked to provide four digits. Inquiries can be directed to heidijlange22@yahoo.com, according to the Facebook post.

Per an Aug. 17 Midland Times story, Kidd was injured during helmet-to-helmet collision during a scrimmage, as reported by KMID 2 and KPEJ 24. Citing his family, the stations reported that he fell to the ground and lost feeling in his limbs for at least five seconds. Kidd, however, came to, got up and walked around before getting back into the game, according to the report.

Kidd’s family said in an Aug. 15 Facebook post that they were prompted to take him to the hospital because he said he felt pain in his neck. His father, Cody, said in the post that it was a "miracle from God" that the teen wasn't paralyzed from the neck down.

KMID and KPEJ reported that Kidd had undergone a successful surgery, with his family expressing gratitude for God’s intervention and the widespread support they’ve received.

"Jaxson is the toughest guy I have ever met in my entire life and I am so proud of how he has endured all of this," Cody wrote in the Facebook post. "I would like to think that much of his toughness and dedication to overcome obstacles like this comes from what Kristal and I have taught him and from his faith in God. But I also think a lot of it comes from what Coach Fortune and his staff have instilled in him. God Bless the Midland High School football team and program."
