How did Midland’s Joey Maldonado rank in Boys’ 18 bracket for singles points in week ending Nov. 12?

Joey Maldonado of Midland finished 29,265th in the United States Tennis Association’s Boys’ 18 bracket in the week ending Nov. 12.

They earned no points to finish the week with 28 single points.

Their ranking fell by 186 from the week before.

There are 50 USTA players from Midland across all age categories.

Players earn points per round in tournaments, winning higher points the further into a tournament they advance.

Jarett Cascino of New York Tennis Magazine says tennis is one of the most competitive youth sports.

“There is always someone better than you on any given day, even if you are the number one player in the world!” he said.
