USTA: Cameron Newton of Midland ranks 10,161st in Boys’ 14 singles points bracket in week ending Sept. 24

Cameron Newton of Midland finished 10,161st in the United States Tennis Association’s Boys’ 14 bracket in the week ending Sept. 24.

They earned no points to finish the week with 188 single points.

Their ranking fell by 69 from the week before.

There are 51 USTA players from Midland across all age categories.

Players earn points per round in tournaments, winning higher points the further into a tournament they advance.

Jarett Cascino of New York Tennis Magazine says tennis is one of the most competitive youth sports.

“There is always someone better than you on any given day, even if you are the number one player in the world!” he said.
