Higher number of new COVID-19 cases found in Midland County in November

Midland County recorded 1,270 new COVID-19 cases in November, according to the County of Midland Health Department.

This is 22.5 percent greater COVID-19 cases than the month before.

So far in 2021, the most severe month in Midland for new COVID-19 cases was August, when 4,338 new cases were found.

The lowest number found in one month was 105 in June.

The average number of new COVID-19 cases found in a month in 2021 throughout Midland County is 1,326.7.

Midland County has fared much better in the fight against COVID-19 than other Texas counties and the state as a whole. As of Oct. 2, the Mayo Clinic found Midland suffered 22 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people, compared to 34 per 100,000 across Texas.

There are occasional discrepancies in COVID-19 reporting by the City of Midland Health Department, such as days with one percent of average new case numbers.

More than 300 Midland County residents have died of COVID-19 or the impact of the virus on existing health issues.
