A Midland County jury found 46-year-old Angel Luis Lebron-Rivera guilty of capital murder on July 4 in connection with the 2015 deaths of two teens.

According to CBS7, Lebron-Rivera could face the death penalty upon sentencing after the jury deliberated for five hours and 45 minutes concerning his involvement in the case. The same jury will begin hearing additional evidence before deciding whether Lebron-Rivera will be sentenced to the death penalty or punished by life in prison without the possibility of parole.

He is tied to two murders that occurred in 2015, according to the news station. Lebron-Rivera is responsible for shooting 18-year-old Ashley Cruz-Rodriguez and 19-year-old John Iglesia-Alvarez. He disposed of their bodies in large pits on a tree farm in Midland County, intended for landscaping waste and trash. Lebron-Rivera knew the area well because he was previously employed at the farm.

According to NewsWest9, the teens were originally from Puerto Rico and came to Midland where they were housed by Lebron-Rivera and his girlfriend for a few months. The pair were reported missing after family members were unable to get a hold of them. Their bodies were not discovered until early 2018 when a tip led the sheriff’s department to the tree farm on County Road. The site was excavated and the teens were found and identified through DNA.

Both victims were shot execution-style by Lebron-Rivera, according to NewsWest9. He was subsequently arrested and extradited back to Midland County in late 2018 and has been in custody since then awaiting trial.
