The Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale makes a comeback to the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center with their first show in 2021 scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
They will be showcasing a masterworks series called "Mostly Mozart" and will be directed by Music Director and Coordinator Gary Lewis.
The series celebrates Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The show will open with “The Abduction from the Seraglio,” an opera that Mozart wrote at the age of 26. This piece is well known for the percussion stimulating end.
Mozart’s 41st Symphony “Jupiter” will also be highlighted, which is the longest and last symphony that Mozart ever composed.
Caryn Crutchfield, MOSC Principal Oboe, will be the featured musician of the show and is in her 25th season with the orchestra. She has been a music educator for a long time and will be showcased in David Mullikin’s Oboe Concerto.
Seating is limited due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements. The MOSC asks that you wear masks and follow all safety precautions set by the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center.
“The health and safety of our patrons, musicians and staff continue to be a top priority," MOSC’s Executive Director Ethan Willis told Midland Texas Chamber. "Despite the possibility that restrictions may lift, we will limit seating to 50% capacity for this event. In addition, we have implemented scrupulous safety procedures specific for our symphony musicians that build upon the diligent policies of the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center. Please understand, these precautions will present a different concert experience than what you’re used to, but are absolutely necessary for us to safely hold a performance. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy an evening of fantastic music."
Ticket prices start at $10. Student tickets are free with a paying adult or student ID.
