PermiaCare Turning Point, The Springboard Center and West Texas Counseling and Rehab were recognized on Dec. 2 by Help.org as the three best drug and alcohol rehab centers in Odessa and Midland.
PermiaCare and West Texas Counseling and Rehab are located in Odessa and The Springboard Center in Midland.
Help.org, a website that offers medical and financial advice to help people with addiction, according to a release on Cision PRWeb.com, published the rankings after analyzing thousands of drug and alcohol rehab clinics across the country.
Recent studies have shown that drug overdose is the leading cause of death among people under 50 years of age, the release said.
The overdose rate among younger people in Odessa increased dramatically between the years 2011 and 2015, the release said.
In Odessa, 55% of high school student respondents said they had used alcohol and 38% marijuana, with 8% using prescription drugs and 2% heroin.
Facilities were evaluated based on their rehabilitation services, treatment methods, cost of services and special programs offering unique and auxiliary services.
The most cost-effective and highest-rated programs in large cities like Odessa were singled out for recognition.
The Help.org report said Odessa, with its lively night-life and arts scene, is an area where drugs and alcohol are prevalent, which had led to an addiction crisis among young people.
The website recommended that people needing addiction services should check first to see what type of insurance coverage they have. The insurance provider can advise what substance abuse facilities are available to the customer, and both public and private carriers must cover substance abuse treatment for individuals to qualify.
Different program levels are available, and drug/alcohol rehab programs typically run for 30, 60, 90 or 120-plus days. Outpatient services are cheaper than inpatient and live-in inpatient facilities are the most costly, the report said.
Typically, drug and alcohol rehab consists of assessment stages, detoxification from the drug, therapy, and after-care-monitoring.
