The Fort Stockton Rotary Club has created and awarded a scholarship in memory of Lindsey Horton.

The award was presented Friday, Sept. 25 at the Midland College Wilson Regional Technical Training Center (WRTTC).

Lindsey took courses at WRTTC and was awarded a Midland College Level II Certificate in Vocational Nursing in 2014. She continued taking courses at Midland College on her path to becoming a registered nurse and graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in 2016. She was working as an RN at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews at the time of her death.

“Lindsey was a wonderful student while she was at the WRTTC and later became a very talented and skilled nurse,” Matt Tarpley, Midland College WRTTC director, said in a release. “We thank the Fort Stockton Rotary Club for their donation in memory of Lindsey that establishes the Lindsey Horton Memorial Nursing Scholarship.”

The scholarship will be awarded to WRTTC vocational nursing students.
