After a kick-off event that featured Austin-based storyteller Elizabeth Kahura, the Midland County Public Libraries have continuing Summer Learning Week programs through Friday.
Thursday’s theme is “Eat Healthy to Win Wellness,” with the first event online at 11:30 a.m., with Virtual Toddler Storytime, featuring “The M&Ms Counting Book” by Barbara McGrath, according to the libraries' Facebook page.
From noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, the libraries will host lunch and pass out free activity sheets and jump ropes.
At 1 p.m., there will be an online Family Place Virtual Wellness Book Display and Recommendations.
At 4 p.m., the online Virtual Spanish Storytime will feature “Fuego” by Jorge Aqueta.
Any time between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday, patrons can also stop at a library branch for a Take-n-Make Grow a Bean in a Bag.
Friday’s theme is “Celebrate Future Leaders, and events will begin with a 10 a.m. Virtual Family Arts and Crafts online event, involving terracotta paint splash.
From noon to 1 p.m., the downtown branch will host library lunches, with a an opportunity to choose a book or Future Leaders Craft Pack.
And from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Teen Leadership Board will have a planning video conference via Zoom.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., patrons will also be able to visit either of the libraries locations to pick up a Take-n-Make When I Grow Up printable.
The Summer Learning Week events are far from the only online and in-branch special events at the Midland County Public Libraries this summer.
In addition to catching regular story times on the libraries' Facebook page, patrons can also participate in interactive activities, such as the “Lego Lab Lego Challenge” wherein children are encouraged to share their creations with the community.
There are also upcoming activities for adult patrons, such as the Keep Calm and Craft On series online.
