Midland is now home to a coworking space that is attracting all sorts of entrepreneurs from various industries.
Midland Tower’s Second Story is a small-business-minded coworking space, according to NewsWest9. It spans 14,000 square feet and contains 32 private offices, in addition to four conference rooms.
More than 40 unique companies and businesses are represented by those who are working within Second Story. Businesses working from Second Story include insurance companies, healthcare, creative marketing and tech start-ups to name a few industries.
Midland is actually a booming city for entrepreneurs, Brian Davis, co-owner of Second Story, told NewsWest9. While being an entrepreneur can be an exciting occupation, it can also become lonely for individuals who — without a coworking space — would have no choice but to work from home.
Second Story boasts many of the features that small business owners and entrepreneurs crave: conference rooms, printing, WiFi and unlimited coffee.
Co-owners Davis and Joe Aylor decided to create Second Story after they themselves wanted such a workspace.
“We thought this would be a great resource for Midland and it was something that we wanted to build because we wanted to use it ourselves,” Davis said.
Although Second Story has only been in business for about nine months, it has been welcomed into the Midland community with open arms.
This coworking space provides community for individuals who need it most, as well as a chance to network.
“Sitting at the coffee pot, we have a kegerator at the space so I mean we sit down in the afternoon and just have beer together sometimes," Aylor said. “Talking through business challenges and it’s amazing to see over 20 different industries come together and collaborate to solve those problems.”
Second Story is also available beyond entrepreneurial coworking purposes, as Aylor and Davis have made it rentable for events. There is a little something for everyone at Midland’s beloved Second Story.
