Simone Biles, the renowned gymnast from Houston, has been honored as the Associated Press (AP) Female Athlete of the Year for 2023. This marks the third time that Biles has received this accolade. Midland man receives clemency from Abbott

A resident of Midland is among three Texans who have been pardoned by Governor Greg Abbott, following recommendations from the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. The Republican governor granted clemency to Robert Phillip Marsh, a 51-year-old from Midland County, for a theft committed in 1990. Marsh had been sentenced to two years of deferred adjudication probation.

Governor Greg Abbott praised the November employment data for Texas, highlighting its sustained growth in annual job creation. The Office of the Texas Governor confirmed that Texas continues to lead in job growth, with the previous month marking a series of new record highs for job creation.
