West Texas FC (WTXFC) head coach Scott Murray is joined by two fellow Australians on the squad. The club recently signed winger Rex Pearce and goalkeeper Keegan Grant, as announced on WTXFC’s Facebook page, with less than a month remaining before the 2025 season begins.
According to the club, Pearce hails from Sydney, Australia’s largest city, where he played for Canterbury Bankstown FC. His initial experience in U.S. soccer was with Harford Community College (HCC) in Maryland. As part of the Fighting Owls men’s soccer team, a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 1 program, Pearce contributed to a 24-7-7 record during his two years there. He later transferred to the University of Detroit Mercy.
Grant, originally from Perth, Australia, advanced through the Australian youth system before moving to the U.S. to attend and play for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Concord University in West Virginia. According to WTXFC, Grant made history by becoming the first goalkeeper at Concord to earn a selection to the Mountain East Conference (MEC) All Conference First Team and led the Mountain Lions to their first MEC tournament game in 23 years.
Grant's achievements at Concord include setting records for most shutouts and fewest goals allowed in a season, ranking first in goals against average in program history, and recording 101 saves in a season. He later transferred to the University of Findlay in Ohio where he continued his successful career as a goalkeeper. Grant's addition completes WTXFC’s roster as their third and final goalkeeper.
