Midland Memorial Hospital's Critical Care and Progressive Care Units have been honored with the Beacon Award for Excellence by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). The hospital's Critical Care Unit received a silver-level award, while the Progressive Care Unit was awarded bronze. These units are now recognized as the only designated ones in the Permian Basin.

The AACN, located in Aliso Viejo, California, acknowledges unit caregivers who enhance outcomes and align practices with its six Healthy Work Environment Standards. Midland Memorial Hospital achieved this recognition by meeting criteria that signify nursing excellence and demonstrate performance in patient outcomes, nursing workforce, and work environment.

Jennifer Adamski, President of AACN, commended the caregivers' dedication at Midland Memorial Hospital for surpassing high standards to earn these awards. "The Beacon Award for Excellence recognizes caregivers in outstanding units whose consistent and systematic approach to evidence-based care optimizes patient outcomes," she stated. She emphasized that these units serve as role models for others aiming for excellent patient and family care.

Dr. Kit Bredimus, Chief Nursing Officer at Midland Memorial Hospital, expressed pride in their teams' accomplishments. "We are honored and proud of our teams for this achievement," he said. "They continue to show their dedication to providing quality patient care to our community."
