The heat is on at Fair to Midland as the 2nd Annual Permian Basin Company Chili Cook-Off returns on Saturday, Feb. 22. Featuring fierce competition, live music, and plenty of cold beer, the event promises a night of fun for chili lovers across the Basin.
“This is a free event for those coming in to try some delicious chili,” said Bri Semple, Events, Marketing & Social Media Manager for KPG Hospitality. “Our kitchen will also be open, serving our usual fair-inspired menu.”
The competition is expected to bring in between seven to 10 teams, including returning contenders Halliburton and Deep Well Services. Teams will battle it out for the coveted first-place prize—an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Las Vegas. Second place will receive a $500 Fair to Midland gift card and a trophy, while third place will take home a $100 gift card and a trophy.
Beyond the competition, live entertainment will keep the energy high. Local band The Roasted Crow will take the stage from 6 to 9 p.m., followed by a DJ set to close out the night.
Fair to Midland, known for its welcoming atmosphere and strong ties to local businesses, is the ideal venue for the event, Semple said.
“With our large footprint in the community and standing regular business with many Midland local businesses, we think that makes us a great venue for this event!” she said.
For those looking to join the competition, registration is still open. Teams can sign up by emailing events@fairtomidlandtx.com with their contact name and team name.
“The best thing to know before competing is to bring the heat!” Semple said.
The event is strictly for guests 21 and older. Whether competing or just coming to enjoy the food and festivities, attendees can expect a night full of bold flavors, great company, and friendly competition.
