The Midland Chamber announced that both the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate passed resolutions honoring it and the Odessa Chamber of Commerce at the conclusion of the 2025 Midland-Odessa Legislative Days. The event took place in Austin from February 3 to 5.
According to a February 6 Facebook post from the Midland Chamber, attendees were recognized at the State Capitol by Texas State Representatives Tom Craddick (R-Midland) and Brooks Langraf (R-Odessa). The lawmakers discussed the efforts both chambers have made in advocating for the Permian Basin and strengthening their communities at the state level. Several members of the delegation were invited to the House Speaker’s dais to represent and be recognized on behalf of the Midland and Odessa communities.
The Midland Chamber said that among those present on the floor were its chair Melissa Wicker, president and chief executive officer Evan Thomas, University of Texas Permian Basin President Dr. Sandra Woodley, Odessa Mayor Cal Hendrick, and Odessa Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Renee Earls. "We are incredibly grateful for three impactful days in Austin, where we connected with elected officials and community leaders to ensure our voices were heard," said the Midland Chamber in their post. Diamondback Energy served as the Legislative Days presenting sponsor, while Priority Power Management was designated as the event’s rig sponsor.
The purpose of the 2025 Midland-Odessa Legislative Days is to provide citizens and business owners from the Permian Basin's two largest communities an opportunity to advocate for issues important to them before elected officials and their staff.
