The Midland Police Department (MPD) held the sixth Midland Police Academy (MPA) graduation ceremony on January 23.
According to a Facebook post by the MPD, Rebecca Berth, Lizeth Valdiviezo, David Garcia, Sebastian Balcazar, Dakotah Wilson, Zachary Hanson, and Isaac Sanchez have officially graduated and been sworn in as officers. "Join us in giving a warm welcome to our new officers as they begin their journey serving our community," the department said.
The MPD shared a celebratory video featuring highlights of the ceremony in another Facebook post. The event took place at the Bush Convention Center.

According to the Permian Basin law enforcement agency’s website, applicants wishing to join MPD must possess at least a high school diploma or GED, be 21 years of age or older, carry a valid Texas driver’s license, and lack a felony conviction. They must also meet all conditions required to obtain the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) Basic Peace Officer Certification.
